Each year, millions of women and girls worldwide are subjected to abuse and even prohibited from receiving basic educations.
According to UNESCO, there are 34 million primary school age girls in the world who are not currently enrolled, and these girls, over 17 million will never receive an education any kind. If they never make it to school, they probably lack the skills they need to enter the labor market. This only reinforces systems of oppression that work against women worldwide.
