According to local legend, the cocktail Sourtoe was a creation of the back of the Yukon local captain Dick Stevenson in 1973.

L the story goes that Stevenson found a preserved human toe dehydrated while cleaning an old cabin in the woods. For some reason, after talking with friends, Stevenson decided it would be a good idea to serve the people of the tip with alcohol at the local saloon. So cocktail Sourtoe is born!
So what exactly goes into one of these libations?

the culprit was a minor excess of zeal which he swallowed while blowing his drink. Several other toes have reached their end in the same way. Fortunately, Hotel Downtown is well supplied with replacement toes given by the local population.

to ensure the toe remains in the glass, the Hotel Downtown began charging a fine to swallow. After yet another toe was swallowed in 2013, the fine was increased from $ 500 to $ 2,500!
