According to local legend, the cocktail Sourtoe was a creation of the back of the Yukon local captain Dick Stevenson in 1973.

L the story goes that Stevenson found a preserved human toe dehydrated while cleaning an old cabin in the woods. For some reason, after talking with friends, Stevenson decided it would be a good idea to serve the people of the tip with alcohol at the local saloon. So cocktail Sourtoe is born!
