Niagara Falls has a powerful allure, especially if you are a daredevil. Each year it draws people hoping to join the privileged ranks of those who have gone over the falls and survived.
Back in 1995, 39 California stuntman Robert Overacker hoped to join this exclusive club ... until tragedy struck on his way down.
October 2, 1995, Overacker arrived at Niagara Falls to perform a stunt to raise awareness of homelessness. He planned to Jet Ski on the falls on the Canadian side, deploy a parachute and land safely.

But they did not know he was in trouble.

After the edge of the falls, Overacker dropped his jet ski. Strapped to his back was a parachute designed with propellants. These thrusters were supposed to deploy before the chute to ensure that it was quite far from the jet ski fall. Somewhere along the line, however, there was a malfunction. The parachute did not open, causing Overacker falling to his death.
His last painful moments can be seen in the video below:
Shortly after the jump, the body Overacker was found by the Maid of the Mist, Niagara Falls is a popular excursion boat. The crew brought his body on board and tried to revive him but he was too late.

Although what happened is a tragedy, we must admit that it is probably the most epic way anyone could ever get. Here's to you, Robert Overacker!
