Burmese pythons are considered an invasive species in the Florida Everglades. Over the past 20 years, giant, deadly snakes quickly adapted to the hot and humid environment of the marshes. While the numbers of the population python explode, they are still more fearsome alligators.
Thus, the two species are required to meet ... and sometimes, it happens.
on the photo below are the remains of a 13-foot python that tried to eat a long alligator 6 feet. As you can tell from the picture, it did not end well for Python (or alligator). His torso erupted after consuming about half of the alligator. Park rangers believe the alligator would have recovered from the bowels of the snake as it was being eaten.

The encounters between pythons and alligators are rare in the Everglades. Usually, when they occur, are the alligators who win, not pythons.

This must have been one heck of a fight between the alligator and python. Not that I would have stuck long enough to watch.
