Things are not looking good in Nepal these days. An earthquake hit the country in late April, killing at least 8,000 people. Then last week, another earthquake shook the mountainous country killing at least 128 people. The first earthquake was particularly devastating because it triggered a massive avalanche on Mount Everest that killed several climbers and injured many others.
This week, images of this avalanche as he hit the base camp has surfaced, and it is absolutely terrifying. Check it out below. (NSFW warning for the language.)
This is the description of the video explaining what happened:
I was in Mt. Everest Base Camp preparing to head for the summit in a few days, when I heard / felt the ground tremble. I pulled out my iPhone and filmed about 47 seconds of the earthquake and subsequent avalanche in the base camp. I was in shock and disbelief throughout the test location, not to be aware that some 20 other porters, Sherpas and climbers had died and 50 were seriously injured in my camp immediately. Immediately after the shooting, I and our teammates Himex started sorting out the dead and wounded in the camp for the next 12-24 until rescue helicopters were able to come and rescue the injured, remove the mountain climbers and finally remove the deceased.
I can not even imagine what I would have done in this same situation. Seeing the snow giant wall barreling toward the camp is straight out of a film end of the world.
