A young mother was convicted of second-degree murder yesterday after her son mysteriously died in hospital. The cause of death was due to impossible levels of salt in his system he was unable to metabolize.
The courts have ruled that Lacey Spears fed forcefully his son, Garrett, salt for his health deteriorate. Spears could then collect the sympathy of family, friends, and strangely enough, the hospital staff.
Lacey Spears lived with her son aged five, Bennet, in Westchester County, NY. When the boy became ill, Spears was taken to Nyack Hospital, where despite doctor's efforts, his condition did not improve.
