Just like garbage on Earth, garbage in space is difficult to manage, and it could cause a lot of problems for our planet in the future. After all, these pieces of shuttle to disposal must go somewhere. Factor in all the broken satellites and the disabled, and you have a giant cluster of space debris around the Earth and the moon.
But what happens when one of these pieces of waste ends up hurtling towards our planet? Well, we almost learned the hard way in 03.
Object J002E3 almost came repeatedly atmosphere of Earth during a year. Discover its trajectory drawn in the video below:
Ok, so it never really hit Earth, but were quite frightened researchers. Here is what it looked like the NASA perspective:

The debris was probably a remnant of the Apollo 12 rocket.

for various reasons, this part of the rocket failed to land, and remained in orbit until 03. We may have dodged that time, but it could come back in 20 years.
If you think this is the only piece of junk circling our planet, you are sorely mistaken.

This is a diagram of space debris outside the atmosphere Earth. Space debris includes dead satellites, rocket stages abandoned, craft components discarded, and other scientific waste.
A piece of Apollo 12 allegedly almost hit us in 03, but fortunately he missed. Yet if you think about all the other Apollo missions, shuttle launches, and other things launched into space, just know that some parts of these businesses are still floating around somewhere & mdash; and the next time one of them gets closer, the consequences could be much worse.
