If you've been in the Hawaiian Islands, you know they offer some of the most spectacular seen in the world. Whether looking to the sea or the sky, Hawaii never disappoints.
But what the tourists saw in the sky last month was certainly not a shooting star.
This looked like a comet was actually part of a Russian spy satellite & mdash abandoned; Cosmos 1315 & mdash; which was launched in 1981.
"When it starts to get into the atmosphere, it is about 18,000 miles an hour," said University of Hawaii astronomer Richard Wainscoat. This could explain the flaming tail. Of course, it is not an alien spacecraft, but it's still pretty cool!
