Most humans with an instinct for decent survival make a conscious effort to avoid scorpions if are in the desert at night. In fact, I can not think of a worse way to start an evening by accidentally step on a scorpion. No thanks!
If you want to make sure you avoid this painful situation, then simply make a UV flashlight with you in the desert. Sounds weird, right? Well, actually scorpions glow a bright bluish green when you shine ultraviolet light on them.
Although researchers do not yet understand very well why scorpions glow like that, they have some theories.

the prevailing theory at the moment is that the gloss is a way for scorpions for detect light with their entire body. Their eyes are extremely sensitive. They are able to use the dim light of the moon and stars to find their way and hunt at night.
These little buggers also benefit from a shelter. When placed in direct sunlight, they instinctively flee in the shade.

A tested experience this theory by overexposing scorpions to UV light, which drains their product chemical UV-reflecting. Those who have been overexposed spent more time outdoors and away from the shadow that those who were regularly exposed.
So if you want to ensure that you keep scorpions away from you, do not over with the UV flashlight.

And here I thought the scorpion could not get any creepier. Fortunately for us, scorpions are not usually the stinging man unless you bother them. In any case, it is probably best to avoid the desert at night if you can help.
