Many people will run to their health and to get (or stay) in good fitness. It may seem strange to some, but others do it for the love of competition. In fact, they as being competitive performance.
Over the years, the races that people can participate have become more and more ... crazy. Marathons or ultra marathons are not the only races you can sign up for. Now there 5k, 10k and half marathon races that are the theme, full of obstacles, or both.
(And it gets a little weird.)
1. Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

Walt Disney World has 3 different races during the weekend, a marathon, a half marathon and a 5K. Whatever your level of functioning, there is a race for you and you can enjoy a tour of the park and high fives characters.
2. Zombie Runs

this type of 5K features people dressed as zombies chase you through the entire course. You wear a belt with three flags on it representing your health. If they are all taken from you by a zombie, congratulations, you just "dead" and failed the race.
3. Color Runs

at the color Run, participants begin in all white from head to foot, and finish adorned in a splash of bright colors and dazzling. How it works:. Each kilometer of the race, runners are bombarded by volunteers, sponsors and staff members with a new color powder
4. Hot Dog Challenge

Hot Dog Challenge The New York Rogue Runners may seem simple enough: a 2.5 mile run in Central Park New York, Midtown and Times Square - but there is a great twist, feet long. A predetermined 10 food carts, competitors must stop, buy a hot dog, and down before trucking along the next stop.
5. Twinkie Run

Twinkies may not be the best fuel race of the day, but in April day anything fish goes! Held on April 1 in Gallup Park Ann Arbor, the annual 5K softens things with tables upon tables of Twinkies before, during and after the race.

6. This challenge packs 10 to 12 mile gritty over 20 military-style obstacles, all designed (by British special forces!) to test the strength of competitors, stamina and mental grit. Oh, and it has recently introduced "tear gas" as their latest obstacle. Good luck with that one
7. Chocolate Run

If running and chocolate sounds like the perfect combination for you, you're in luck! You have to go to Ontario Chocolate Race where all forms of chocolate you are given as a 5K, 10K, or 10 mile race.
8. Warrior Dash

this involves dirty 5K 12 "obstacles from hell", including jumping over fire, scaling walls rope 12 feet, and sprint paddling, and crawling through the muddy obstacles of all shapes and sizes.
9. The Empire State Building Run-Up

the exhausting run-up starts from the ground floor of the Empire State building in New York and finishing at 88-flights up observation deck. But not everyone can get in action: riders must enter a draw to win one of hundreds of race points
10 .. New Year Midnight Run

The 4-mile race through Central Park offers festive costumes, performances, and (nonalcoholic) champagne station in the middle of the race. Oh, and when the clock strikes midnight and it is a firework of time, do not forget to watch!
11. Turkey Trot

12 .. Undie Run

Each year, the Undie Run challenges students across the country to dismantle their sub Underwear and make a go for it. The clothes they throw at the start line are then donated to charity.
13. Races Nu

the Nude run is a 10K through the virgin forests of Finland, where participants can run, walk or Nordic walking at their own leisurely pace. Competitors are limited to shoes, socks and hats.
14. Krispy Kreme Challenge

The challenge now - a 5 mile run while eating a dozen donuts. Sounds like a stomach cramp pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
15. Marathon du Medoc

Located in the Médoc wine region, near Bordeaux, France, this world-famous event takes riders on a unique adventure in a most spectacular vineyards through life and castles in the area. Stationed along the way :. 23 drinking stations for runners to taste the best wines in the world
16. Park Central Undie Run

the race will cover Central Park 1.7 miles of pure pleasure, as every year, on the Friday before the Aquaphor New York City Triathlon. Competitiors are encouraged to wear their underwear most of the patriots they have for the "Celebrate America Undie Run" in Central Park.
17 . the Jingle Run

in support of the mission of the Arthritis Foundation to prevent, control and cure the arthritis and related diseases, participants hit the pavement donning jingle bells, costumes, and lots of holiday cheer.
18. Races hot chocolate

"Sweetest Race America" indulges 5 and 15K finishers with Ghirardelli chocolate, melted chocolate and other chocolate delicacies.
19. Boston Urban Iditarod

This is far from the famous Alaskan Iditarod. For urban iteration, they replaced the dogs with people, snow gear with costumes and sleighs with - you guessed it - carts. On the way, expect to hit at least five bars "check point" where more challenges await.
20. Spartan Races

designed by seven "crazy ultra-athletes" and a Royal Navy Spartan Race combines obstacles like fire, mud, barbed wire, and some infernal curve balls to get competition out of their comfort zone.

If you are tired of old boring race, give one of these a try racing. Just be prepared for obstacles, tear gas, and apparently a lot of fire. Maybe even zombies.
