Americans use 127% more water today than they did in 1950, and over a quarter clean water used in American homes is literally flushed down the toilet. This is an alarming statistic, given that 884 million people around the world lack access to safe drinking water. While many people survive using only three gallons of water per day, most toilets use three liters of water per flush. To save water in his own home, a Redditor and his wife built a greywater sink toilet.
Greywater is wastewater that has been used for washing dishes in the kitchen with his hands in the bathroom, in the shower body, and clothes in the washing machine. Greywater is very little human waste in it, so it can be recycled for things like watering plants and flushing toilets. A toilet greywater pushes clean water normally used to fill the toilet bowl with a spout, so you can wash your hands with clean water, and toilet bowls refills with greywater. This way you are not blushed a valuable resource in the drain. Find out how it is done.
The project began as a normal toilet.

They drilled two holes in the toilet tank lid. One for the spout and the other for the sink drain.

Since the drill becomes hot, they made a dam with plumber's putty and filled with water before drilling the hole.

They cut copper plumbing parts for the beak.

The mouthpiece contains a plastic tube for the water to travel through.

They found a bowl in a thrift store to use as a pool. They drilled a hole in the bowl and attached to the tank lid. The drain is connected to a dishwasher pipe.

This is what the inside the tank looks once the tank lid is replaced. The transparent tube attached to the blue filling valve diverts water in the nozzle rather than in the toilet bowl. The dishwasher hose attached to the sink basin sends dirty .... er, greywater in the toilet for the next hunt.

This is the finished product .
