There is a group of words that we associate with deserts. The energy and brightness are not usually among them.
But British artist Bruce Munro would beg to differ, because when he first laid eyes on Red Desert Australia in 1992, he was overwhelmed by the vitality and radiance of untapped region. He was so struck by the feeling that he took his sketchbook and engages the scene to memory.
After the compilation of drawings and sketches, Munro has developed its "Field of Light" installation, which debuted on the property of the artist in Wiltshire, England. Due to the success of the original version, Munro showed in various places across America and the United Kingdom. After more than a decade, "Field of Light" was finally presented to his muse.
Munro and his team, including photographer Mark Pickthall, made their way to the desert red light on the earth that inspired it all.
