You know what it's like to hold your breath and wait for the inevitable. You expect the glass jar to hit the tile floor. You expect terror to rise when the movie screen turns black. You wait for the burning pain that accompanies a stubbed toe, the rush to the roller coaster that follows you on edge, and the crisis that announces a new relationship to your phone with concrete. And in that moment of anticipation, there's nothing you can do to hit the imminent moment of his journey.
The photographer Aaron Tilley captured this feeling in a collaborative project with Kyle Bean for Kinfolk magazine. Called In Anxious Anticipation , the series stops time and asks viewers pause in the liminal space between cause and effect.
