This piece is called Ruin , and combines several themes of history, memory and the relationship between humans and nature. "I wanted to explore this relationship further by creating a group, a community in the protection of wooden elements, reflecting the last inhabitants of the space," Mulholland says on its website.

domain Scotland was particularly strong in open pastures and origin, as well as a home to small farming communities. After World War II, people were moved by the government, and the land was planted on trees rapid growth, as the country was in desperate need of wood after the war. the region remained a forest to date, but you can always do the remains of old houses and villages that once existed here.

This story inspired Mulholland to create a link between the present, past, and the earth itself.

This history inspired Mulholland to create a link between the present, the past, and the land itself.

the figures represent people who lived on this earth before being removed, but also how humans can radically change the nature.

Mulholland describes the six numbers as representing "a slight trace of people and past communities that once occupied and lived in this space." He goes on to explain. "the numbers absorb their environment, reflecting in their surface, daily life changes in the forest. They create a visual concept of non-space, a vacuum, as if they are part of our world now and then, as they fade into the forest, they become an intangible preview. "

the interwoven nature of this facility is even deeper, once viewers are involved. If you approach the numbers, you can also see you. this way, you, the viewer, to be part of the piece this looks at the past and see where it comes from. it also reflects the human in a (somewhat) natural environment, and how the natural and artificial constantly reflect each other.
