artist based in San Francisco Klari Reis created a huge volume one-of-a-kind pieces, each incredibly beautiful. They are a unique way, in many ways, but let's start with the fact that they are created in Petri dishes. Reis uses a similar epoxy polymer to a rubbery resin, and various types of pigments which react in a manner reminiscent of how various bacteria act in nature. She is constantly blurring the line between natural and artificial.
The result is grounded, but out of this world; dishes simultaneously emulate whole galaxies, the earth landscape elements, and microscopic characteristics. Did I mention how beautiful the colors are?
