If asked to think of an enchanted forest, Transylvania could come to mind ... that, or some other made up, vaguely European location in the stories of old. But Oak Ridge, New Jersey? Not really.
But for nearly 50 years, the fairy tale forest theme park captured the imagination of children in rural New Jersey before finally closing in 05. Since then, the park was abandoned. Fortunately for us, however, Redditor PennyLaane snuck his camera to show us if the magic still exists!
Fairy Tale Forest was once a popular amusement park in Oak Ridge, New Jersey. It was built by German immigrant Paul Woehle in 1957.

This is what the park looks like now. As you can see, the facts buildings by hand Woehle has not lost much of their dynamism, despite being completely vacant.

Woehle has was inspired by his mother; it he and his ten brothers and sisters read old fairy tales by the fire. He made his dream to bring these stories to life for the children of New Jersey.

In 1994, at the age of 96 years, died Woehle. He had spent much of his life building his kingdom. He eventually finished the large mural that was used as a backdrop when he reached the ripe age of 80.

the park was given to the granddaughter of Woehle Christine VanderPloeg, who renovated for 40 years of existence in 1997.

Unfortunately, in 05, the park closed for good.

The property was sold to a local storage company, and only some of the features of the park remain.

Although some structures were damaged by nature and vandalism, it is surprising to see how the rest Fairytale Forest.

is as impressive as PennyLaane could get inside to take these photos. The property is rumored to have an especially vigilant security force.
