Joyland, a small but cheerful amusement park in Witchita, Kansas, is a source of nostalgia for those who grew up in the city. Although it closed in 04, those who went as a child remember the Whackey Shack, a roller coaster of wood with a clown named Louie, who regaled visitors with its set of organs.
But in 05, the clown disappeared. His disappearance was not reported until 2010, so that the police believed there was no way to track down the beloved mascot. They did not think, that is, until they found Louie in the house of the worst criminals.
Louie had been missing for a decade, but it was found while police were searching the home of Damian Mayes.
Mayes is a 39-year-old who recently was convicted of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and serious criminal sodomy.
He was an organ repair man for the park and met Louie while fixing the favorite instrument of the clown. When the park closed in 04, Mayes must have come back to him.
police took particular interest in the case of Louie because they all their childhood Rememberd. They were happy to return to Joyland, which was until recently the home of the clown for 50 years.
See Louie in action! Louie Play, play!
On the bright amusement park for a gloomy basement of a convicted sexual deviant ...
