They look like giant stones that somehow seem to be sliding on the surface of Mars by themselves. According to NASA, these models could be caused by water flows formed during the Martian summer. However, the flows observed in other satellite photos do not occur on the slopes, while they were spotted on flat ground.
Some think it is possible that what is shown are actually dust devil trails.

Dust devils are giant dust storms may rage on the Martian surface for months . However, their habits (as you can see above) are irregular and do not produce straight lines.
So what exactly do we see? Maybe not such a dead planet after all.

Unfortunately, we will probably have to wait until we are able to put human boots on Mars to understand what these things are. Hopefully, that day will come sooner than we all think. To Mars!
