If you met a bunch of people sitting in the woods with spheres on their heads, would you join them? You probably have if you knew they were using the new virtual reality technology to explore Grizedale Forest England through the eyes of different animals.
(If you are on other crackpots of the sphere to wear in the woods, we suggest you back away slowly.)
helmets were developed by the design studio Marshmallow Laser Feast.
And yes ... they look really, really stupid.

To create this virtual experience, Grizedale Forest was scanned, then images were combined with CT scans of various insects and animals. The idea is that the wearer can experience what life through the eyes of other creatures.
You can fly over the trees like birds, or get up close and personal with every detail of nature through the eyes of insects.
This is what you would see if you took one for a spin.

It offers a truly new perspective on nature.

Although we might not have the ability to transform into different creatures, these helmets let us step outside the limits of our human ego for a while and see the world in a whole new way. You can see more creations from Marshmallow Laser Feast on their website and Vimeo channel.
