With a jellyfish takeover of the seemingly inevitable planet, it might be a good idea to take a look at the different types of deadly jellyfish ocean roaming the Earth (and they are very certainly fatal). Jellyfish are responsible for 20 to 40 human deaths each year in the Philippines alone.

1. Mane Jellyfish Lion.

This particular species of jellyfish could win prizes for the most beautiful, but no more friendly. It is one of the largest jellyfish in the world. The tentacles of the lion's mane can be up to 100 feet in length, and their stingers hurt like hell. Fortunately, it will take a number of bites to kill you, so you have time to flee.

Moon jellyfish are in mortal pain. In fact, the scientists assessed their sting as "very sweet." The problem with jellyfish moon is that they are everywhere. They are one of the most abundant species of jellyfish in oceans of Earth. Swimmers beware!

These pesky critters like hanging out in waters off the east coast of the United States, especially around the Chesapeake Bay area. Many are during the summer months, and their bites are extremely painful. Each sea nettle has about 24 tentacles which can each reach up to six feet long. This jellyfish is a nightmare machine

These little guys are fairly common insofar jellyfish are concerned. They are also incredibly difficult to stir in spice you. Swimmers just meet in the oceans. Their bites are painful, but are far from life threatening.

5. Irukandji Jellyfish.

You'll probably never this small jellyfish come, as it is only 0.2 inches long. This is unfortunate, however, since its bite can kill you. The toxin carried in the sting of this little guy is 100 times stronger than cobra venom. Doctors can probably save you a prick, but multiple bites will quickly land you in the cemetery.

The man o 'war is not technically a jellyfish but a bluebottle. It is actually a huge colony composed of thousands of tiny bodies. It is not uncommon to find the bodies of Man O 'War washed up on beaches in the southern United States Whether you see in the ocean or dead on the beach, you should stay away. Their sting can cause your heart or lungs stop working. Although the bite does not kill you, it can still cause a lot of discomfort.

Meet deadliest jellyfish in the world, the jellyfish box. Nearly 6,000 deaths were attributed to this particular organization over the past 50 years. Each of its 15 tentacles is 10 feet long and contains 500,000 microscopic poison darts. There's enough poison in each dart to kill 60 people. If you are stung by a box jellyfish, say your prayers, because you'll be dead in three minutes.

now, I have a pretty good excuse to tell my friends when they ask me why I will never swim in the ocean. "Jellyfish. So painful, deadly jellyfish."
