The worst drought in recent history is still in force in California, and government officials are doing all they can to fight against water loss. With strict rules because of reservoir levels and low snowpack, people around the world are trying to save the little water they still have.
Fortunately, a brilliant idea of a former biologist working at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power could potentially save hundreds of millions of dollars and mdash city; and more importantly, millions of gallons of water.
Nicknamed "shade balls", these black plastic balls prevent water evaporation and animals to consume what is held in the reservoir.
Approximately 96 million of these balls floating in the lA reservoir to help maintain the healthy water levels that drought continues.
the black color absorbs UV rays, which prevents the evaporation of water and re-contamination of the reservoir.
Look at the Los Angeles Mayor shadow discharge balls in water:
lA just finished a project in tHe tank to save 300 million gallons of water by deploying shadow of balls on its surface, save our city more 250 million while keeping our water clean and safe.

Hopefully this solution alleviates the problem of drought in California to make things more manageable for farmers and residents. After months of water problems, it would be good for the Golden State to finally see some relief.
