We all know, at least in concept, millions and billions of bacteria and other small animals currently make a living on our bodies this minute . You know they are there, but since you can not see them, there is some distance between you and all your little friends.
However, this need not always be the case. Tasha Sturm, a technology in microbiology, physiology, and anatomy laboratories Cabrillo College, created this petri dish of all microbes hanging on the hand of his daughter eight year old son after a day in the area game.

So how do Sturm? First, it provided a tryptic soy agar solution (TSA) and water in a sterile petri dish and allow to solidify. Then his son shook hands with agar, which lifted the small amounts of bacteria that become colonies you see here. The petri dish was then covered. Sturm incubated for a day or two, which stimulated growth. At room temperature, colonies of bacteria and fungi have continued to grow. Finally, the handprint once invisible transformed into alien-looking ecosystem you see here.

you can create something like it yourself if you're curious about what you and your children in care in the park. You can order materials and find a more detailed description of the online process. However, once the bacteria and fungi start growing enough to be visible to the naked eye, do not open the petri dish; breathing that amount of material in can be hazardous to your health. We do not recommend that just anyone do this without looking ahead seriously.
