When we think of stray cats, our minds often fill with fixtures, sad rags animals set up depressing music Sarah McLachlan. (Thanks, ASPCA.)
But stray kitties seen through the Japanese photographer Masayuki Oki lenses are anything but. Although the fate of stray animals is crucial, it is probably just as important to the similar light on their happiest moments to show them run and play like cats who honor us with their presence at home.
Affectionately referring to his blurry subjects as busanyan , which literally means "ugly cat," Oki's work lays the images we're used in relief against the stray animal scenes find happiness in the most unlikely places.
